ARTINGTON string quartet

The Artington String Quartet is made up of 4 musicians who live within 5 miles of Artington between Guildford and Godalming in Surrey. Between them they have over 75 years of experience working as professional musicians in the U.K. and abroad. The quartet intends to explore and share the rich and wonderful repertoire of the String Quartet from Haydn to the present day.

Mal, Catherine, Emily, and Jonny have worked with orchestras such as the B.B.C. Symphony, City of Birmingham Symphony, English National Ballet, RTE Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Their chamber music and solo performing has taken them to countries such as China, Mexico, Israel and Egypt. The quartet’s members have won various prizes for excellence in chamber music performance and played in venues such as “Bellas Artes” in Mexico City, the Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St.Martin’s in the Fields and the Electric Theatre, Guildford!
In the commercial side of the music industry our musicians have performed with artists such as Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Meatloaf and Massive Attack. Also players from the Artington String Quartet have played on X-Factor, the “Live Lounge” on Radio One, Top of the Pops, ITV and West End shows such as Carrousel, Oliver and Lion King.
However the quartet intends to work in and among the local community, serving its members and helping with education projects and the disadvantaged. We aim to play fund-raising events for charities and collaborate with younger musicians from the Guildford area.
We are available for work in schools and are all experienced DBS checked teachers.
